(for some reason, this post just didnt want me to place a read more tag, kept wanting to place it at the end of the posts, which is a tad annoying …well more than a tad actually, but anyways… lets get on with it!!)
Immediate thoughts post book –
- what the fuck is a labret?
- Alyssa really started to get on my tits towards the end
I am happy that I have reached the end of this series, I was surely entertained with weird and wonderful creatures, other worldy terrrain and magical mysteries, I also like that the fact that Howard referenced Lewis Carrol and the orginal Alice, but with her imaginative twists.
I gave this a 3 star offering, purely for the story, the audio performance, as usual was good, the narrator has a pleasant voice and she does make an effort to change her voice and tone for different situations and charecters.
We do a a semi wrap up, some end have been tied up and some explained, but with regard to Alyssa and her eternal push/pull conflicts toward Jeb and Morpheus was abit like walking through tar, it was hard work at times, and in my best cockeny accent
Make your fucking mind up love
the ‘woe is me’ tormentative ego she seems to carry with her throughtout was exasperating, because I am an older lady and not in my bloom of youth, the teenage angst part did not click with me….I’m just cynical i guess!
I know that this last book was meant to deal with that question and of course defeat the Red Queen and see Aylssya crowned, but I wanted this book to be darker, wicked and kick ass, but for me, it it failed in that area.
I am not going to spoil the ending – but – SERIOUSLY….come on AG Howard….. I wished you would of had the balls to write it differently.
Have you read this or listened to it? What are your thoughts? Am I being too harsh?
Let me know, lets discuss
