A Court of Wings and Ruin | S J Maas | my thoughts

Can I just say…I am the only one to feel sorry for Tamlin…

I went into this book having not refreshed myself with the story from the other books, I had finally got my mitts on it and did not want to waste any time getting stuck in… oh did I mention that I got the Audio version, the Kindle version and then finally the beautiful thing that is the Hardcover…

Title and Author - A Court of Wings and Ruin by S J Maas

Genre - YA / Teen

Publisher and Release date - Bloomsbury Childrens

Standalone or Part of a Series - A Court of Thorns and Roses #3

Format - Audio, Kindle and Hardback

Source - Bought myself

Description –

Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit-and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well.

As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords and hunt for allies in unexpected places.

I really want to fan girl over this, go all squee, but then my cynical I am nearly fifty brain tells me to stfu up and stop fantasing about a made up fairy guy who fucks like a demon anf then told myself, why the hell not, middle aged or no, I can still enjoy a book and get all gooey over it.

Well… gooey, I guess is the wrong phrasing, as I did not find myself in a hot mess on the floor, but I did find myself talking back to this book at quite a frequent rate.

I am NOT going to give a blow by blow account of this book, as the internet is riddled with them, but what I will say is that, It was a thrill to finally get some answers and indeed meet the main players in this fantasy again.

I had a manic work schedule, so as previously mentioned, bought the audio book,  the Kindle version and the hardback, the audio for work, the kindle when out and about and the hardback when i was at home, as there really is nothing like having the actual book in your hand, even though it is a biggie and got hand cramp keeping it propped up!

I call this series the ‘Marmite’ series as you either hate it or love it, I am in neither camp, I enjoyed this, I really did, but I did not LOVE it, there were parts in this book that I did think unecessary or indeed long winded, and did get a tad irritated when Fayre kept calling Rhysand her ‘mate’ but hey ho, I just read it and accepted the fact that Maas couldnt think of another word!

I have found writing this very difficult, because I have over dosed myself in reading and listening to other peoples reviews on this book, now I do not know wether the thoughts going around in my brain are mine or others, So all I will say is that, it has been definatly left open to explore other charecters in this world and I really hope that she chooses Nesta and Cassian first, I thought Nesta was a complete bitch, but it made her storyline spicy.

Did I like the ending?

I dunno….

was it rushed, was it cheesy? probably, but if I get the chance to live eternally with the man that I adore and he does me, is sexy and powerful and makes you cum all night, would I ?

  2. I haven’t read Court of Wings and Ruins, but a couple of people have said that it’s good. Also, what a brilliant idea to get the hard copy, audiobook, and kindle book to fit your needs! That’s a great technique.

    1. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
